Kernel Upgrade

Hello there fellow saplings. I need your assistance. I'm fairly new to SAP in
the BASIS arena. I've never done a Kernel upgrade now was I showen by my
predesessor. Right now we are running R3 3.1I with kernel patch 390 and hotpack
48.

Now I need to know how to upgrade to the most current and what kernel's were
between 390 and the current. I have printed notes: 154966 and 102445 as
guidance. I also have the CD's from SAP. Help.
