Dialing digits for controller &24 not valid. (C R)

Message Long Text :

Cause . . . . . : The connection number (CNNNBR parameter) of the controller description and the calling number (CALLNBR parameter) of the line description are in EBCDIC format. The modem requires characters encoded in ASCII format. The CNNNBR parameter or the CALLNBR parameter contains EBCDIC characters that cannot be translated to ASCII.
Recovery . . . : Do one or more of the following:
-- Use the Work with Controller Description (WRKCTLD) command to display the CNNNBR parameter of controller description &24. Ensure that all characters are valid ASCII characters.
-- Use the Work with Line Description (WRKLIND) command to display the CALLNBR parameter of line description &23. Ensure that all characters are valid ASCII characters.
If the problem continues, press F14 to run problem analysis.
Possible choices for replying to message . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :
C -- Cancel recovery and inform any applications that are waiting for an operation that the recovery has been canceled.
R -- Try the operation one more time.
Technical description . . . . . . . . : The error code is &40: The system cannot convert an EBCDIC character in the dialing digits to ASCII (IA-5).
