The characteristic substitution rule defines which characteristic values can be substituted by which other characteristic values.
This setting is valid for all materials.
Suppose that characteristic value 732 can always be substituted for characteristic value XL, and the reverse is always true as well. In this case you would create the following two records in the characteristic substitution rule:
- 732 can be substituted for XL
- XL can be substituted for 732
