Business Relationship Since

As German legislation dictates that the mains operations and sales divisions of utility companies must be separate entities under corporate law, the corporation needed to assign the building connection process and the processing of other associated measures to two different companies. The project aimed at retaining as much as possible of the existing workflow while ensuring a maximum level of automation for the required internal allocation processes.

The first step was to create a concept that separates sales and performance on the legal level and permits appropriate allocation / invoice processing between the companies. The concept was developed by BPG, a well-known auditing firm.

Based on this concept, the existing SAP IS-U Business Workflows were modified and extended in addition to the required customizing. Functions not available in the standard SAP solution were developed in accordance with the concept. One area of focus was the deployment of the Due Date Manager, which ensures that processes are executed in the correct time frame.

  • Separation of the existing process into two accounting areas with minimal changes to the processes for the users
  • Automation of the internal allocation process through the use of the SAP Business Workflow
  • Unbundling-compliant communication between the accounting areas via ALE

BPG and consolut worked seamlessly together to implement the project successfully, quickly and professionally.

With 2,400 employees at three locations in Bonn, Siegburg and Adenau and a consolidated annual turnover of 570 million euros, the SWB corporation is one of the largest commercial enterprises in the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg area. The company's divisions comprise power supply, drinking water, local public transport and waste processing services. SWB is owned 100% by the city of Bonn.
