The IOP was polling 1 or more controllers that were varied on but were powered off (VARY ON PENDING). The IOP waited for a specified amount of time for the controller to reply (CNNPOLLTMR value in line description). During that wait time, the entire line could not transmit or receive data. This can increase the response time for all users on the line.
1. Change the connect poll timer (CNNPOLLTMR) in the line description to 2,3,4,or 5. This is the amount of time (in tenths of seconds) the IOP will wait for a reply. NOTE: Too small of a timer value may prevent the controller from varying on.
2. Change the SDLC NDM poll timer (NDMPOLLTMR) in the controller description to 600 (which is 60 seconds). This is the amount of time between polls if the controller is in normal disconnect mode (NDM) and is not responding.
