ABENCAST_CASTING_GLOSRY - CAST CASTING GLOSRY

casting

Handling of a data object by assuming a specific data type. Explicit casting is possible in the statement ASSIGN with the addition ASSIGNING when processing internal tables, for some assignments of actual parameters to formal parameters, and as a downcast or upcast in the assignments between reference variables. An implicit casting sometimes takes place when handling operands in certain operand positions.
