Title
EAN/UPC Recycling Program
Purpose
This report is used to recycle International Article Numbers (EANs) and Universal Product Codes (UPCs) so that they can be assigned to other materials.
EANs/UPCs that can be recycled immediately are stored as Recycled EAN only if the corresponding materials have been archived. EANs/UPCs that cannot yet be recycled are stored as To-be-recycled EAN.
Integration
You must use transaction Material Master maintenanceto assign Recycled EANs/UPCs to other materials. You can assign recycled EANs/UPCs only when all EAN number ranges have been exhausted.
You can verify existing EAN number ranges and their assignment to EAN categories in Customizing for International Article Numbers (EANs).
Prerequisites
- EAN Recycling Basic Settings must be maintained. In Customizing for International Article Numbers (EANs) ,choose EAN Recycling Basic Settingsand define the recycling indicator, the baseline date indicator, and the default retention period for archived materials.
- Only EANs/UPCs generated by the system (EAN categories using internal number ranges) can be recycled.
- EAN categories must use number range EUROPARTNR in order for their EANs/UPCs to be recycled.
In Customizing for International Article Numbers (EANs),under Define attributes for EANs/UPCs, you can define a number range object for each EAN category.
Under Define EAN Recycling multiple intervals, you can define multiple internal number ranges for a given EAN category.
Features
Selection
- In the Existing material selectionselection block, you can select existing materials
in order to calculate their possible recycling date using existing business documents such as sales orders, delivery notes or invoices.
This selection is relevant only if the business document date indicator has been set in the EAN Recycling Basic Settings.
- In the Parallel processingselection block, you can choose to run the program using parallel processing.
Parallel processing splits the workload and reduces the run time. You can also choose how many materials a workload will contain.
- In the Technical settings selection block, you can choose to run the program in test mode if you do not want the results to be saved.
You can also choose to have the system write an application log if you want to monitor results. Messages (errors, warnings or information messages) will be saved in log EANREC.
Standard Variants
Output
No report will be issued.
The results will be stored in three tables: /afs/eantbrec, /afs/eanrec and /afs/eanhist.
An application log can be created depending on the selection options.
