Purpose

You use this report to support the monitoring of q/tRFC entries by means of SAP Application Interface Framework monitoring transactions.

The report supports the following SAP Application Interface Framework monitoring functions:

  • Restart/Cancel/Debug q/tRFC transactions
  • Display q/tRFC payload
  • Display logs of each q/tRFC transaction

To run these monitoring functions, certain objects/Customizing entries have to be created, for example:

  • Interface definition (including engine)
  • Playback function module
  • SAP structure

These objects or Customizing entries are generated by the Function Module Generator based on a remotely-enabled function module existing in either a local or a remote system.

You can consider the Function Module Generator to be a fast implementation tool of the SAP Application Interface Framework.

The tool supports interface developers in implementing the SAP Application Interface Framework qRFC interface in a more convenient and less complicated way.

This is achieved by a reduction of manual activities. For example, instead of defining SAP structures in DDIC, you can use this report to generate the SAP structure;
instead of defining an interface in the Customizing of the SAP Application Interface Framework, the report generates the related Customizing entries.

Integration

You can also use the Mass Function Module Generator report (program name: /AIF/RFC_LIST_GENERATOR) to call the Function Module Generator.

This report works on top of a pre-defined function module list which is part of SAP standard delivery. Also, the function module list can be maintained by the customer.

Prerequisites

Prior to running the Function Module Generator report, you should define RFC destinations connecting the remote systems with the SAP Application Interface Framework.
