Purpose

You use this transaction to delete time series data of any time series type. It is possible to specify for which locations, products, location products or reference modules the time series shall be deleted. Furthermore, the granularity (primary or secondary) can be specified for which the time series should be deleted, as well as the start and end date. The transaction also offers the possibility to delete the time series according to their horizon, which is the time series data is deleted, when it is outside (that is, older than) the time series profile horizon for primary and secondary granularity that is defined in Customizing. Only the data within the start and end dates is kept. If you specify an end date for time series deletion, the system compares the end date against the time series horizon.

  • If the specified end date lies before the time series horizon, the system uses this date as the end date for deletion. For example, suppose that the time series horizon is four weeks and today is March 1. Counting backwards four weeks, the time series horizon starts on February 1. If the end date specified here is January 15 (which is outside of the four week period), then all data up to January 15 is deleted.
  • If the specified end date lies within the time series horizon, the system takes the horizon start date as the end date for deletion instead. For example, based on the time series horizon in the above example, if the end date specified here is February 15 (which is inside the four week period) , then only the data up to February 1 is deleted. Thus the system always maintains a minimum of four weeks of data.
