Prerequisites

You are using the Migration Cockpit for SAP S/4HANA release 2020 or higher and are using the migration approach Migrate Data Using Staging Tables. This report is not relevant for the older version of the Migration Cockpit (transaction LTMC).

Overview

You can use this report to transfer a project from one system to another. You first export a project from a system and save the project as a zip file. You then import the zip file into the other system

Exporting a Project

You can export a project from a system. The project will be saved as a zip file. Note that the exported project will not contain the following information:

  • Mapping values
  • Job settings (the specified number of jobs for the project level and for the migration objects)
  • Event logs (history data)
  • Staging tables and records from staging tables

To export a project, select the Export radio button and specify the mass transfer ID of the project you want to export. Save the zip file.

Importing a Project

To import a project, proceed as follows:

  1. Select the Import radio button
  2. Under Location of Staging Tables for Project, you specify whether you project uses staging tables that are located in the local ABAP schema of the SAP S/4HANA system or in a remote system. If your project uses staging tables that are located in the local ABAP schema of the SAP S/4HANA system, choose the option Local SAP HANA Database. If your project uses staging tables that are located in an SAP HANA schema that is not the local ABAP schema of your SAP S/4HANA system, select the option Remote SAP HANA Database and enter a valid database connection to the system.
  3. Choose Execute.
  4. The system displays a new window where you specify the zip file you want to import. Select the relevant file.

If the project you are importing does not exist in the system, a new project will be created with the relevant project settings.

If the project you are importing already exists in the system, the existing project settings will be overwritten with the exception of the following:

  • ,,Database connection
  • ,,Job settings
  • ,,Retention period settings

Additional Information for Production Systems

It is not possible to create or modify projects in production system. You cannot, for example, remove a migration object. If you need to make such an adjustment, you can adjust the project in the source system and transfer it again to the target.

Example:You transfer a project that contains migration objects A, B, and C to the target system. In the source system you remove object C. You transfer the project again to the target. The project in the target system will now contain objects A and B only.

Additional Information for non-Production Systems

You can create and modify projects in any system that is not a production system. If you add an object in the target system, it will not be removed if you transfer the project again.

Example:You create a project with migration objects A, B, and C. You transfer this project to a non-production target system. In the target system, you add object D. The project in the target system contains objects A, B, C, and D. In the source system, you remove object C, and then transfer the project again to the target system. The project in the target system now contains object A, B, and D.
