Purpose

You can compare the contents of In-Force Business Configurator (referred to here as "IFBC contents") from two different sources. Different sources may mean different systems or different clients. However, you can also compare the current IFBC content with the backup copy of the IFBC import last executed in the same system and the same client.

When you execute the program, the system compares the product templates in the two sources with each other, and displays any differences. You can choose to include all product templates in the comparison, or you can restrict your selection to specific product templates.

Comparing the product templates may be useful in the following cases:

  • You wish to check whether the product templates in the development system are identical to the product templates in a follow-on system (such as a test system or production system) and that no errors occurred during the transport.
  • If you have created a backup copy during the IFBC import that was last executed, you can compare the current content of In-Force Business Configurator with this backup copy and analyze what has changed.

Note: The comparison only takes into account product templates that have the Active status.

Integration

Prerequisites

  • External system:
If the source is a different system from the system in which you execute the program, you have to establish an RFC connection for this external system.
  • Backup copy:
It is only possible to compare the content with the backup copy of the IFBC import that was last executed if this backup copy was actually created.
Notes:
  • You create an IFBC backup copy in the update run of the IFBC import. Proceed as follows:

1. In Customizing for Policy Management under In-Force Business Management → Basis → In-Force Business Configurator, execute the Customizing activity Execute Import of msg.PM Product Data or Execute Import of FS-PRO Product Data.
2. Then choose Execute IFBC Import.
3. Select the Create Backup Copy checkbox.
  • For information about backup copies that have been created, in the Customizing activity Execute Import of msg.PM Product Data or Execute Import of FS-PRO Product Data), choose the checkbox Manage IFBC Backup Copies.

Note that the comparison is always only performed with the most recent backup copy (see also under "Selection" below).

Selection

Enter the following data for the two sources that you want to compare with each other:

  • System
Note: If the system is identical to the system in which you execute the program, you can leave the System field empty.
  • Client
Note: If the client is identical to the client in which you execute the program, you can leave the Client field empty.
  • Backup copy:
Note: It only makes sense to compare the content with the backup copy of the last executed IFBC import in the same system and client. This means that for Source 1 and Source 2 you enter the same system and client.
If you select the Backup Copy checkbox, the system does not use the current IFBC content for the comparison, but the last backup copy from the specified system and client. "Last" backup copy means the backup copy with the most current date.

If you want to restrict the comparison to specific product templates, enter these product templates. You can also use a wildcard (*) to select the product templates.

If you want to include change information (last changed by, date, time) in the comparison, select the "With User/Date/Time" field.

Standard Variants

Output

On comparison of the IFBC contents, the system checks the following IFBC tables:

  • /PM0/ABUCIBCTMPL (templates)
  • /PM0/ABUCIBCTMPLT (template names)
  • /PM0/ABUCIBCTCHA (field attributes for templates (characteristics))
  • /PM0/ABUCIBCATTR (static attributes for IFBC templates)
  • /PM0/ABUCIBCCARD (template cardinalities)
  • /PM0/ABUCIBCBTX (assignment of business transaction to IFBC template)
  • /PM0/ABUCIBCVALR (value ranges for characteristics)
  • /PM0/ABUCIBCVDEF (default values for characteristics)

The results display is structured according to the above named tables In the Overview section, the system displays the check result for each table. To display the detailed check result for each table, choose the respective table line by double-clicking.

The results messages have the following meanings:

  • Only Source 1:
The respective object only exists in source 1, and not in source 2.
The object in question depends on the IFBC table that is analyzed. Table /PM0/ABUCIBCTMPL, for instance, contains the complete product template, and table /PM0/ABUCIBCTCHA contains a characteristic of the product template.
  • Only Source 2:
The respective object only exists in source 2, and not in source 1.
  • Differences:
This means that the object exists in both sources, but with differences. These differences are listed in detail.

You can only navigate to the associated product template in In-Force Business Configurator if source system/source client and system/client in which you execute the program are identical.

Note: This does not apply for a backup copy.
