Purpose

You can use this program in cases where performance bottlenecks occur during the processing of CIF queue entries (LUWs) by the scheduler for inbound queues (QIN scheduler). Performance bottlenecks can occur, for example, if a large number of CIF queue entries have built up in the inbound queue as a result of system downtimes or other technical problems in the system.

Note that the program is intended for emergency situations only. Do not use the program as a standard substitute for the QIN scheduler. For this reason, make sure that you reset the settings changed temporarily in transaction SMQR to the original values once the program has ended.

Integration

Prerequisites

Features

Selection

The selection screen contains the following fields:

  • Recipient
Here you enter the name of the recipient who is to be notified automatically when the program has ended.
  • Recipient Type
A recipient type can be the user name or Internet address, for example.

Standard Variants

Output

The system sends a notification to the recipient when the program has ended.

Activities

  1. You call the QIN scheduler using transaction SMQR. You delete the existing entries registered and register new entries with the prefix ZZ.
For the CIF queues, this means that you delete the entry CF* and create a new entry ZZCF*. As a result, the QIN scheduler ignores the CIF queue entries and they can be processed by the program /SAPAPO/CIF_EMRG_QINSCHED.
  1. You start the program /SAPAPO/CIF_EMRG_QINSCHED. To avoid performance problems and timeouts during the execution of the program, you can execute the program in the background only. During the runtime, the program writes additional information about the queues that have been started to the spool. The program comes to an end after a defined number of internal runs.
  2. After the program has come to an end, the recipient specified in the selection screen is notified automatically.
  3. If, after the program has run, there is still a large number of CIF queue entries in the inbound queue, start the program again.
  4. After the program has ended, you reset the settings that we changed temporarily in transaction SMQR to the original values. Notifying the recipient ensures that the settings are reset shortly after the program has ended.
