Purpose

The project contains the determination of distances and durations on the basis of road maps using the Internet Graphic Server (IGS).

As before, distances and durations are stored at the means of transport within the transportation lane.

There is a new 'Precision' field for the means of transport that enables you to decide the method used to determine distance and duration.
The field has the following three properties:

  • Line of flight distance
  • IGS precision
  • Manually maintained

Precision is used for information purposes and it may eventually replace distance and duration in mass calculations.
XPRA should be used to determine the precision for distances and durations that were maintained in earlier releases.
To do this, the distance and duration of the line of flight distance is recalculated and compared to the existing data.
Depending on the result, the precision is then set to Line of Flight or Manually Maintained.

The period factor is required in SNP heuristics for the exact calculation of the availability dates of receipt elements.

In XPRA, the value of the period factor should be compared to the bucket offset of the PPM or means of transport.

Can be reset using IS NULL request during selection; special DDIC settings are made for this.
Processing in blocks of 1000 (OPEN CURSOR WITH HOLD, FETCH PACKAGES, DB-COMMIT).
Two #full table scans# are necessary for database /SAPAPO/TRM because IS NULL can only be requested in SELECTs.

Possible inaccuracies are excluded from the recalculation of the line of flight distance through the use of rounding parameters.

Bundled or buffered SELECTs for locations and means of transport Customizing.

Time: After implementing the 4.0 DDIC elements.

Runtime: Approx. 3,5 seconds for 100 means of transport or PPMs. An exact analysis is only possible after test have been carried out at the upgrade of the Colgate system.
