Purpose

The existing commodity codes and their descriptions defined in database table T604 and T604T are country-dependent and have no validity period. The assignment of commodity codes to materials defined by field STAWN of database table MARC is plant-dependent and has no validity period as well. This data model has the disadvantages of being error-sensitive, inflexible, and not reusable, which restricts the functional extension of applications in different areas.

Integration

The previous data regarding commodity codes in database table T604 and T604T, and the assignment to materials in database table MARC must be migrated to the new database tables. The migration is carried out in two steps:

Step 1. Create commodity codes in new database tables

The commodity codes in new database tables are created based on the existing data in database tables T604 and T604T. The following new database tables are involved and table entries created:

/SAPSLL/TDNOS and /SAPSLL/TDNOST are the definition of numbering schemes and their descriptions. A numbering scheme identifies commodity codes for usages in the assignment of commodity codes to materials. In general , a numbering scheme is applied for the assignment of materials in a specific country. In this context, a numbering scheme is defined for each country of table entries in T604, and the descriptions with languages of table entries in T604T.

/SAPSLL/TUNOS are usages of created numbering schemes in related countries respectively.

/SAPSLL/DNOSCT and /SAPSLL/DNOSCTT are the definition tables for the master data scheme of commodity codes. They are used in the definition of commodity codes. In this context, the numbering scheme for the assignment has the same name as the numbering scheme for the commodity codes.

/SAPSLL/NOSCA defines which master data scheme of commodity codes is activated for a numbering scheme. The activation is time-dependent.

/SAPSLL/CLSNR and /SAPSLL/CLSNRT are the actual commodity codes and their descriptions for the master data scheme defined in /SAPSLL/DNOSCT. The commodity codes and their descriptions are time-dependent.

Step 2. Create the assignment of commodity codes to materials in new database tables

The assignments of commodity codes to materials are created based on the existing data in database tables MARC and the numbering scheme defined in Step 1. The following new database table is involved and table entries created:

/SAPSLL/MARITC is the new assignment. The assignment is country-dependent through the activated numbering scheme, instead of being plant-dependent as in table MARC. That means that the assignments in table MARC are consolidated and migrated to the new database table. For example, if the same commodity code is assigned to plants in one country, one entry for the assignment is created. However, if different commodity codes are assigned to a material in one country, the assignment will not be transferred. Furthermore, the new assignment is time-dependent (19000101 – 99991230).

Prerequisites

Features

This involves the commodity codes and the assignment of commodity codes to materials.

Selection

All existing commodity codes and their assignments to materials are selected.

Standard Variants

Output

The selected commodity code data is migrated to the new data model. The assignments of commodity codes to materials are migrated to the new database table if the existing assignment is consistent.

Activities

You run this XPRA to migrate the data.

Example

Commodity code 47110001 was defined for country Germany in tables T604 and T604T. There is one assignment of code 47110001 to material M1 and plant 1000 in Germany. After running the XPRA, the assignment is transferred to the new data model. This includes the definition of the numbering scheme DE01 and corresponding descriptions, the usage of the numbering scheme DE01 for the country Germany, the definition of the master data scheme DE01 for commodity codes and their descriptions, commodity code 47000001 for the master data scheme DE01 with the validity period 19000101 – 99991230, and the activation of the master data scheme DE01 for the numbering scheme DE01 with the validity period 19000101 – 99991230, and finally the assignment of code 47110001 to material M1 through the numbering scheme DE01 with the validity period 19000101 – 99991230.
