Functionality

The Source of Supply (SOS) Determination determines all sources of supply for a given product and a given target location at a given date.

The SOS data is read by means of a SCMB module. The result of this module is checked against entries of table Transportation Lanes for Subranges (/FRE/TRPROD2): Data without corresponding entries in /FRE/TRPROD2 is deleted. Due to the fact that entries in /FRE/TRPROD2 can be generic (that is, for all target locations), the corresponding entry is either a record with a certain target location or an empty target location.

If only the regularSOS is requested, the preferred type of SOS is to be determined: It must be distinguished between external SOS (that is, vendors), and internal SOS (that is, distribution centres and stores). From these two types of sources, four possible SOS types (BWSCL) are derived: 'Only External SOS'; 'Only Internal SOS'; 'External Before Internal'; and 'Internal Before External'.

One of these SOS types is maintained as the preferred SOS type for every location product. Furthermore, for every combination of source location, target location, and product, a priority (SPRIO) is maintained.

The regular SOS is the entry with the preferred SOS type and the highest priority. Highest priority means priority 1 or the next highest, if priority 1 does not exist.
