Functionality

Several regulations exist that prohibit that different kinds of dangerous goods may not be transported together. This function module determines for each combination of items of objects e.g. Freight Units, Transport Orders etc., whether they may be loaded or shipped together.

A dangerous goods regulation might e.g. require that product A must not be loaded in the same compartment or container than product B.

The mixed loading check consists of multiple ways to configure the segregation of a dangerous good, which is stored in the dangerous goods master records of a product:

  • Segregation rules for segregation keys
This is the basic criteria for the mixed loading check. It is based on the dangerous goods class of a product. However, for also covering secondary risks, the danger labels stored for a product are taken into account. Each danger label is assigned a segregation key.
In segregation rules a statement is given for each combination of segregation keys in terms of whether the mixed loading is allowed or not.
To override the danger labels, segregation keys can be directly assigned to the dangerous goods master record of a product.
  • Example: UN 1163 Dimethylhydrazine, unsymmetrical (Labels 6.1, 3/8) - Segregation as for class 3 but "Away from" class 4.1 and class 8

  • Regulation dependent mixed loading groups
Products or substances are grouped in mixed loading groups. Different levels of segregation are defined and combined in mixed loading rules for the regulation dependent mixed loading groups.
For example, the IMDG code groups substances in 17 groups like "Acids", "Nitrites" etc.
  • Example: UN 1449 Barium permanganate (Labels 5.1, 6.1) - "Separated from" powdered metals, ammonium compounds, cyanides, hydrogen peroxide, peroxides and superoxides

  • Enterprise-specific mixed loading groups
Similar to the regulation dependent mixed loading groups, but not a requirement from dangerous goods regulations but enterprise restrictions.
  • Example: Company produces chemical substances and substances that are used in production of petfood. Chemical and petfood substances must not be shipped together.
