------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parameter : PHYS_MEMSIZE
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Short description: Available main memory for the SAP instance
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parameter description :
-----------------------
Important: This parameter is only valid for Windows NT

This value specifies now many MB of the main memory should be used
for the SAP instance. The default value for PHYS_MEMSIZE is the
size of the main memory in MB, that is, it is adjusted automatically
when the main memory configuration is changed.
With this value, the standard values for the following memory
management parameters are calculated automatically. This removes
the need for manual maintenance.

em/initial_size_MB = [PHYS_MEMSIZE]
If required, the extended memory extends itself
by the value [PHYS_MEMSIZE / 2].

PHYS_MEMSIZE calculates the max. no. of users [UC].
rdisp/ROLL_SHM = [UC] * 100 (100 blocks per user)
rdisp/ROLL_MAXFS = [UC] * 100 (100 blocks per user)
rdisp/PG_SHM = [UC] * 50 (50 blocks per user)
rdisp/PG_MAXFS = 32768

Aim:
The new standard values for memory management under Microsoft
Windows NT remove the need for manual maintenance of the profile
parameters. PHYS_MEMSIZE calculates and adjusts the whole
memory management. This value must maintained only if the SAP
instance is not permitted to use the whole work memory.

Example 1:
For a central instance with 1 GB main memory, the database uses
400 MB and the application server 600 MB. The value for PHYS_MEMSIZE
should therefore be set manually to 600 in the instance profile.
(No other adjustments needed)

Example 2:
There are two dialog instances (for example production and test
system) on one system (1 GB). PHYS_MEMSIZE splits the main memory
between the two SAP instances.
for example, production system : PHYS_MEMSIZE = 700
| Test system : PHYS_MEMSIZE = 300 <

Example 3:
A dialog instance on one host. This means that the SAP instance can
use the whole host. This removes the need for manual maintenance of
PHYS_MEMSIZE, since its standard value is on the size of the main
memory.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Application Area: System
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unit: 1 MB
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Default value : [Size of the main memory]
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who is permitted to make changes: The customer
Only change when the SAP instance is not permitted to use the whole
work memory (for example, central instance, several instances on one
host).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Limitations for operating systems:
Parameter is only valid for Windows NT.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Limitations for database systems: Microsoft Windows only
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other Parameters Affected or Dependent:

The standard values of the following parameters are calculated
according to PHYS_MEMSIZE

em/initial_size_MB = PHYS_MEMSIZE (extension by PHYS_MEMSIZE / 2)
rdisp/ROLL_SHM
rdisp/ROLL_MAXFS
rdisp/PG_SHM
rdisp/PG_MAXFS
