SapAdmin...how?
Hi Robert,SapAdmin.exe configures your settings so that you can do network
installations from the server as a local installation of the PC or running
off the server itself. You must access SapAdmin.exe from a network
connection. Go to Windows Explorer, Network Connections, find the network
installation server, click on the directory netinst, SapAdmin.exe should be
in that directory. Execute it. Go to Tools, settings, netinstall service
tab, start service configuration wizard. In there you can define default
settings and directories, ie. sapworkdir, help files, system id, etc. I
don't have the process down 100% yet, but this should be a good start for
you. Right now I'm working on getting upgrades distributed to local
workstations automatically.

Hello, group.
We are at release 4.0B. Some of our PCs use SAPGui 4.0B, some use 4.5B or
4.6B and some use 4.6D. All have been installed individually on these PCs.
We are attempting to upgrade all PCs to the latest version of SAPGui 4.6D.
Note 361222 raises some concerns:
1. To date, we have been using manual unpacking and re-installing the 4.6D
version when and where necessary. Note 361222 states that "The manual
unpacking is no longer possible with these and subsequent patches." Okay,
I can live with that. However, the note goes on to say that the new
automated patch can be run at the client level. Horray! BUT...when I run
it, I get an error message that I must run SapAdmin before proceeding.
What is SapAdmin? How do I get to it? I hope that it isn't a new
application in a later release of SAP because if it is, the termination of
manual unpacking is not logical.
2. The Note is unclear as to whether this will work with older versions of
SAPGui? Will it? Must I upgrade every PC with an older version of 4.6D
before I can even think about applying the new patches (if, in fact, it is
possible)?
3. This would be so much easier if I could get a network installation
process going. Can anyone point me in the right direction to investigate
how that would be done?
