Installing a 3.1H system on a box with a 4.5B system

Hi Greg

Changing the kernel (optimized) and debug library names during the install
is quite common. By changing the library name you can install separate
kernel libraries for each SID installed on an AS/400. Separate kernel
libraries allow you to do kernel upgrades to one SID without disrupting
another SID. It increases your flexibility in the future. If you are
installing only one SID on a system, it is not necessary to rename the
library but, you might want to consider it for consistency with the naming
on your other systems.

Typical names would be something like R3<SID><rel> where SID=the name of
your SID and rel=the R/3 release of the kernel.

Cheers,
Steve Boucher

Subject: Installing a 3.1H system on a box with a 4.5B system

Hello to all!
We are attempting to restore our 3.1H system on an AS/400 box that already
has an existing 4.5B system residing on it.
When reading the installation manual for 3.1H, there is a section called
"Installing additional R/3 systems." In that section, the manual says, in
option 1 "Work with R/3 Systems," then option 1, "Add R/3 System," to
"replace the *DEFAULT entries for your optomized and debug libraries with
the names you have decided on." My question is has anyone done before? If
so, what names are appropriate for this?
Any information on this type of install is greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
Greg
