ABAP question:how to tell source of a transaction call?

We've got a programmer with a fairly unique "opportunity":

We use the QA11 transaction as is, but also execute QA11 using a "CALL
TRANSACTION" from a custom transaction ("ZSTO").

We need to be able to tell the difference between the two executions of
QA11: did it come from the "native" call, or from the ZSTO CALL
TRANSACTION.

We looked at creating a copy of QA11 transaction, called ZA11, but that
would involve updates to SAP "T" tables that aren't recommended.

We also looked at creating a copy of and modifying the program called by
QA11, but that would involve review (and remembering to review) the program
copy after every round of system maintenance or upgrades.

Any way to see enough of a program stack to tell? Any "temporary" space in
the SYST table, for example, to write a temporary flag?

Any help would be appreciated!
