Printers
Hi Richard,We are at V4R5 and SAP 4.0B so I'm not sure if this will help or not. We do
not have ANY print devices defined on the iseries. We have remote outqs
defined for every printer which SAP might use, they all point to the NT
print server and strrmtwtr outq(*all) is in the startup program. On the SAP
side, all output devices are defined with access method 'C'(Direct operating
system call) and the host printer name is the name of the outq. As far as I
know, the only problems we have had (since going to this scheme) have been
NT and or saplpd related (too many versions of saplpd floating around - put
an older version on by mistake ...)
Hope this helps,
Rick

Subject: Printers
hi,
In the customer site where I am, we try to looking for a solution
concerning the printers.
We defined the printers through the AS400 with devices , it work fine
except sometimes ( most of the time during the end of month ).
We tryed to use the NT services ( we installed the saplpd into the NT
serveur ( as a service) ) and also, it works fine but not always.
We also tryed the remote outq but we use this only for the matriciel
printers.
The last definition is the front end printer but it's only for small
reports.
So, it's works but the users are not very glad.
In your sites, have you a tool ( report 's manager / printer' s manager )
or did you defined the printers like us ( devices, remote outq, front end,
NT services )
Any experience on this topic will be welcome.
