Journal ASP's

Hi Jon and Jim!

I disagree with Jim in this issue:
We do have a production machine with two instances residing
in ASP1 which both write their JrnRcvs peacefully into the same ASP2.
This ASP2 consists of 3 mirrored pairs, 2 pairs 4GB, 1 pair 8GB.
We have never seen that these disks were too busy.
No problem for us.

Where I agree is: On a DEV or TST system machine, you may be better off
when you have no ASP2. Very probable you have a RAID-5 DASD configuration
and could not afford a separate RAID set for ASP2. And if you put ASP2
in the same RAID set as ASP1, you will lose both when the RAID set fails.

Kind regards
Rudi

You would not want two SAP production systems to use journals in the same
ASP. In my opinion, non production systems do not need journals in a
separate ASP. Interested in others input on this issue.
