Huge "Unprotected Storage"
Andi,there is a parameter we picked up from a note that you can setrdisp/wp_auto_restart that will restart the work processes after a given
time period. We set ours to 23hrs and restart our system once a week on a
Sunday at about 08:00. So Monday they restart at 07:00, Tuesday at 06:00
etc.. We had the same problem with temp storage growing day by day up to
30Gb by the end of the week but cycling the WPs daily doesn't affect
performance as the buffers are maintained but releases at the temp storage
held by ODPs etc. Effectively you cap the temp storage at one day's worth.

Hi All,
we are currently running 3.1i on an S30 with 285Gb DASD..
we have noticed from Day 1 of running SAP that the Unprotected
storage is always climbing, and an IPL normally reduces this backdown
to a sensible level, however, we are now using 13% of our Dasd on
unprotected storage..this is 38Gb..!!.
anyone know how I can either clear this out without an IPL or how to
put a ceiling on the amount of DASD it will use
