For a couple of years now, we have Operators log the "current unprotect" for
each box on a worksheet hourly
They are to notify me if the unprotect goes to xMb
This is even more of a challenge when running 3 tier cuz the SBn app servers
only have 34GB dasd total;
This past Saturday night I had signed on for a different reason & found
current unprotect to be at 27GB on that box which put the box at 96% disk
utilzation & was climbing as I was watching.
At that point a DSPTMPSTG DETAIL(*FULL) - writes to your own joblog the temp
stg info
& then WRKJOB; 10 joblog; F10 detail
page thru to find the "heavy hitter" WP jobs which are holding the tmpstg
After going thru the typical checks to make sure it is ok to end the job at
the O/S; we end 4 *immed

Hi All,
we are currently running 3.1i on an S30 with 285Gb DASD..
we have noticed from Day 1 of running SAP that the Unprotected
storage is always climbing, and an IPL normally reduces this backdown
to a sensible level, however, we are now using 13% of our Dasd on
unprotected storage..this is 38Gb..!!.
anyone know how I can either clear this out without an IPL or how to
put a ceiling on the amount of DASD it will use
