Many thanks to Jim, Mike, Brian, Will, et al,This problem was "resolved" by using "describe table .. lines", etc.
to get a record count of the internal table. If greater than zero,
process, else, bypass. This obviously brings into question my users
insistence that "it used to work before the last kernel patch". I
still think it's working backwards but it doesn't really matter what
I think. Thanks again to the many who responded (for what it's worth,
I had this resolved with the help of the group before SAP even
responded.)
