Doesn't it always happen..two minutes after I sent the last response, Ifound this in the help for "open dataset":" When you create a file, it
exists under the user name used to start the SAP System. This user name is
not normally identical with the user's UNIX name. To be able to create the
file, the user must have the appropriate write authorization in the relevant
directory." So I guess if SAP01 starts the system, then SAP01 will be the
owner of any files created? Back to the future - how to give read access to
the group profile of the owner in an ABAP program.
