You are at a very old kernel level. You need to get the latest CD and
move up to a newer kernel. Check SAPSERV and OSS for the latest CD
numbers and kernel levels.
In general, the message is just noise and is just intended to keep you away
from completely unchecked release combinations. If you try to report
problems, SAP will insist that you get the later kernel. (if it wasn't a
valid release option, they would not provide support to you at all).
V5R1 is completely capable of running R/3. Just make sure to check the
info apar for the latest PTFs, and to get the latest kernel as soon as you
can.

Hi all,
I just finished installing 4.6D on V5R1. I also loaded all the support
packages. It seems to work fine but I get the following message in SM28.
"OS release OS/400 V5R1 M0 830 is not supported with this Kernel (46D)"
"Severe problems were detected during initial system check"
"Please do not use that system before fixing these problems"
Anyone has an idea what I should verify to correct this?
