Connection trough OSS
Hello Peter,
I have already managed the installation of saprouter and SNC and they
are already working
together in a customer site. Many thanks for your info which has helped me
to recall the procedures
for the saprouter.

Subject: Re: Connection trough OSS
Hello,
The very old solution was a direct connection to SAP - e.g. ISDN.
That was, of course, very expensive unless you were located in the same
country as the Regional Support group of your continent (Germany, USA).
The classic solution is the so-called OSS-connection, a service offered by
several ISPs.
It is a connection from your SAProuter to SAP's SAProuter, over the
infrastructure of the ISP.
SAProuter - despite its name - is not a router, but a proxy-server for SAP
communications.
"SAP's SAProuter" runs on a machine called sapserv3 (in the case of
Europe), sapserv4 or something similar in other parts of the world.
The new solutions that are being advertised are twofold:
either Internet with SAProuters at both ends and SNC for security
or VPN over Internet (using IPsec).
