Homogeneous System Copy

Last weekend we did a Homogeneous System Copy from a production system to a new
as/400. I used the excellent instructions Ron S. at IBM provided in an earlier
post (I do not have a copy on this PC) and it worked great. Basically I did a GO
SAVE and took menu option 21 on the source machine and a GO RESTORE menu option
21 on the target machine. This was a 3.1i SAP system on v4r5. I had to play with
the device descriptions for the Ethernet cards, the system name and the ip
address but apart from that it all worked pretty well. If you have the time
spend a day or two doing a dummy run then you will have some good notes and you
can do it for real. I found this much easier then the create SAP system &
database copy technique. We were lucky in that both machines were at the same
OS/ptf level.

What was interesting was that we were effectively going through a disaster
recovery. In that it was logically like we lost our production box and all we
had was a set of tapes to load on a virgin AS/400.

Hello, all!

Does anyone have a document/whitepaper/other on this subject. I've
searched everyplace I know, and I can't find one. If someone has a
copy, could you please e-mail it to me at brian_zugelZc...?

Thanks!
