SAP Solution Manager
Although our letter about SAP solution Manager makes it sound "free andeasy" (no licensing fee.etc.), the following FAQ from the website make it
sound otherwise (especially the last line - 2 consultants for 3 days ?!?!? -
that's not exactly chump change to a shop that's seriously considering
migrating to NT just to save on hardware costs ).
I have numerous other complaints with the notes search engine, most of which
have already been stated elsewhere (I'd also really like some dates on the
results list and maybe the ability to sort by date descending like I
frequently do in OSS). The reports we have received from early watch et. al.
have been canned summaries of what we look at every day. I suppose it's nice
to have an "official" document but has any one actually gotten some value
from these reports?

"How can I get the SAP Solution Manager?
The SAP Solution Manager is included in your standard maintenance and there
are no license fees involved. As of the end of the first quarter 2002 you
can download the SAP Solution Manager from the SAP Service Marketplace. At
the moment, it is delivered via the SAP Solution Manager Starter Pack. This
Starter Pack is delivered onsite by certified SAP experts and includes:
Installation and testing of the SAP Solution Manager (day 1 and day 2)
Installation of the add-on "SAP Solution Manager"
Set-up of EarlyWatch Alert and Service Level Management Reporting
Set-up of SAP Notes Assistant
Set-up of remote connection to SAP to enable the usage of Microsoft
NetMeeting, service data exchange with SAP and forwarding of Support
Notifications to SAP Support
Customer training how to use the SAP Solution Manager (day 3)
Technical instructions how to work with the operations portal, solution
monitoring, Support Desk, etc.
Explanation of the SAP Support methodology
Positioning of follow-up service offerings like Solution Management Review
