QNTC

Hi Lisa,

seems pretty much possible.

I had code page 0 and changed it to 1252, re-cycled the Netserver, but I *think*
you might be right with your IPL as it still shows 0 as code page.

Thanks - I try an IPL

Actually, all I needed to know was if you were using QNTC. Check the Code
Page of Netserver and see if it's set to 0
or 1252. I had a problem with this earlier this year when it was set to 0.
You can check it through OPS Nav - Network - Servers - TCP - AS/400
Netserver.
Right mouse click on this and go to properties. On the "Advanced" tab you
will see the code page parameter and you can change it
here. I was told that you have to IPL the system to get this change to
take affect but I did not test it. I would try changing it and re-starting
netserver
and see if that does it, if not you will want to make sure it's set to 1252
and do the IPL when you have a chance. I'm not sure if you're problem
is exactly the same, but it's possible, especially if your Code Page is set
to 0 on Netserver.

Hi Lisa,

not right now, though might be an option in the future.

All I am trying to do right now is to read the file from QNTC and save the
records to /tmp

Thanks

Hi Martin,
Are you trying to create a file in the QNTC directory with your open
dataset command?

Hi Guys,

problem finally solved.

Where I got all confused was the SAPnn user.

I couldn't quite understand why in heaven I have to use that user and
configure it on my W2K Server and indeed - there is no reason for it.
(Depending on how your system is configured to run on the /400).
What I needed to setup is the user profile under which the /400 SAP jobs
are running. I found that out after setting up audit logging on the W2K
server and that finally showed me who is trying to access the shares on
the
W2K box.

Done that, all I need to configure in AL11 is another directory pointing
to
/qntc and the world is in order.

Now there still seems to be a little mystical problem.

Using OPEN DATASET FOR INPUT IN TEXT returns error code 8 (file not
found)
open in Binary works, but then the data is unusable and I *think* I might
even read past the EOF,
causing EOF on the first read.

Anyone got that problem figured out?

Thanks again for all the hits

Martin
