Create a directory in AL11

Chris,

the problem is not MKDIR, but rather the question why AL11 does NOT list all the
directories available under the root.
Subsequently there must be a configuration or table where the *directories to be
listed* are stored.

In 4.6 there is a button to add directories, not so in 4.0.

Since AL11 isn't listing everything under the sun, there must be some config.
Maybe it's in customization in 4.0 and has since been moved from there?
Or *BASIS* directories are configured in customization and everything else in
AL11 in 4.6.

I even went through some IFS configuration and was unable to find a list of the
*BASIS* directories.

In our case Gerd wants to have /QNTC right from the root and not somewhere added
via a symbolic link.

Hello Gerd.

Sorry I can't look at the configure button in AL11 since all the buttons are
in German for some particular reason instead of English on our system. If I
understand you correctly though, can't you just create the *DIR where you
want it?

Directory . . . . : /usr/sap/

Opt Object link Type
. *DIR
.. *DIR
com *DIR
tmp *DIR
trans *DIR
DEV *DIR
PRD *DIR
TST *DIR

MKDIR DIR('/usr/sap/tmp2')

Directory . . . . : /usr/sap/

Opt Object link Type
. *DIR
.. *DIR
com *DIR
tmp *DIR
tmp2 *DIR
trans *DIR
DEV *DIR
PRD *DIR
TST *DIR

Once the *DIR is created in the folder you want, simply move other folders
into it (Option 11).

I have created a couple of *DIR this way since I can't understand the German
on the buttons.
If this isn't what you need, sorry.

Good luck,
Chris

Chris,

I have the directories already in IFS but want to link them to a new
directory entry in AL11. On 4.6C I basically can create a
new "placeholder" in AL11 pointing to the directory in IFS. Creating
this "placeholder" is done with the "Configure" button in 4.6.
However, after that button does not exist in 4.0 I don't really know
how to create it there.
