Record deletion and index performance?
Thanks for the responses.From the answers that I got on the first one, regarding the index fragmentation,
it sounds as I suspected: deleted entries won't hurt, but I won't get any
performance improvements on access times until I reorganize.
I didn't make my second question very clear. I'm already using RGZPFM, but I
wasn't sure how it worked. From the responses that I received on my example, if
I have a 100GB file that has 50GB of deleted records, I'll need 50GB, plus a bit
of overhead, to reorganize the file. I won't need the full 100GB of free space
to reorganize it.
