Need clarification on 46D Basis
Hi Russ,you are exactly right. You will upgrade to 4.6C-SR2. That means you will
install the 4.6D kernel, the application 4.6C, the HR 4.6C, the abap-packs
4.6C and the base 4.6C as well. So, you would install the latest support
packs for these products.
There is no upgrade path to 4.6D for R3. This is only for other products as
you already mentioned.
This kind of stuff will probably change with R3 enterprise = 4.7x.
They plan to deliver with 6.20 kernel and 6.20 base and try to build the
6.30 base "downward compatible" as well as the kernel. So, you will change
the kernel to 6.30 and sooner or later you will do a "mini-upgrade" just of
the base to 6.30 as well.
But this is only for the future not for 4.6x.
