Hi Jim,

I think you are not a special custoemr now, but at least one of the 10or 20
biggest database. It may be useful, to help there a bit in advance, in order
to reduce the problems at the "day X", because I don't want to have a new
experience of your latest upgrade again.

But, it's up to you. You don't need to convert when installing APO, CRM or
whatever. You could stay on EBCDIC as long as you stay on 4.6C. It's really
up to you.

Regards

Volker

I'm a special case now, eh?

We're still trying to figure out what we want to do and when we'd like to do
it. With 4.6C, we're supported through 2005, I believe. But we're looking
at APO, which implies BW, plus some other SAP offerings. So we may be
forced to Unicode earlier....

If we do decide to do it in December, maybe you'd like to come to Michigan
for the holidays??

Hi Jim,

NO CONSULTANT NECESSARY!

That means:
If you do know something about iSeries and about R3 base, you are invited to
take part in the class - and afterwards you can do it on your own.

I think in your special case, it would be probably best, that we will
support you a bit from Walldorf via remote consulting or "stay on duty" ? Do
you want to do the conversion over X-mas 2002 ?

Regards

Volker

Volker: are there restrictions about who can actually do the conversion?
Is a certified consultant required, or would this class be enough to allow
us to do it ourselves?

Hi all,

we just finished the class material for a codepage conversion class for
iSeries from EBCDIC to ASCII. I will teach the first classes.

We are thinking about the locations for teaching this class worldwide.
We thought about: (10-30 pupils per training)
- Walldorf, Germany (about 2 for this year)
- Newtown Square, Pennsylvania (1-2 for this year)
- Australia or Singapore ? (?) (Sorry about Australia: But, if enough people
are interested, we will setup a class there as well!)

What do you think about this and how many people would be interested in the
classes ? When would be the best dates or months ?

UABC92: SAP iSeries Codepage Conversion Class
Content:
- R/3 on iSeries - EBCDIC and ASCII
- Why Codepage-Conversion to ASCII ?
- Effects of a Codepage Conversion (e.g. special EBCDIC-ASCII-issues)
- SAP Codepage Conversion service
- Requirements for Codepage Conversion
- Codepage Conversion process (Enrolement, project, approval, hardware
procurement, remote, access, ...)
- Codepage Conversion tools
- CodepageConversion - preparation
- Demonstration of a Codepage Conversion

Requirements:
- R/3 base knowledge
- iSeries knowledge (at the beginning of the class there will be "checked"
if you ever saw R3 base and iSeries! So, be prepared!)

Duration: 1,5 days

You will learn on the class UABC92 how to convert your SAP system best from
EBCDIC to ASCII. You can either join the class yourself, if you do have
knowledge in the SAP base and on iSeries or you would hire a consultant to
do it for you.

Regards

Volker
