Printing multiple copies from sap only


Hi, John.

Depending on what type of printer is being used (JetDirect network card or
built-in network card), the administrator needs to either telnet into the
JetDirect or manually get into the I/O config menu on the printer and set
the TCP Idle Timeout setting higher. I think the default is 90 seconds. We
changed ours to 180 seconds and it seemed to solve the problem. I saw in
another response to your note, though, that you can set this to 0 (zero)
and that basically tells the printer to wait indefinitely for the print job
and not to disconnect at all. I don't know which one is preferred or
whether this latter setting is available on all printers, so I'd go with
setting the Timeout higher - say 180 - 240 seconds and see if it fixes the
problem.

Hi, John.

We also had the problem for a while. The solution was to make a setting on
the remote printers (or router or something) to make the timeout setting
longer. That way, the printer didn't recognise a lost connection too
quickly and would stay in a "connected" state long enough for the network
glitch to clear. If you need more precise info, I'll ask our network guys.

Hello everybody,
The problem that we are having is that at some of our remote
sites when printing in sap only people are receieving multiple copies
from the printer even when they only choose one copy in the as/400
wrkjob log we get the message: remote host system closed connection
unexpectedly. then the next line is: send request failed for spooled
file in qsysprt. For every message we get a print out until the log
says: spooled file qsysprt sent. Has anyone see or heard of this and
how do I resolve this issue.
