IO Cache Battery Status--PTF MF28981
This is more hardware related than SAP related, but I thought I'd pass on a tipthat we received from our customer engineer yesterday.
I believe this applies to both 5065 and 5074 style racks. We've had several "IO
Cache" batteries replaced. (They look about like what you would have in a
cordless phone.)
There are as many as 3 sets of batteries in a rack, and it is possible for some
of them to go into a warning state, but not all of them. In that case, you'd
like to replace them all, but the system had no way of knowing that the
still-good one had been replaced, so it could still expire next week and asked
to be replaced again.
PTF MF28981 and MF28977 allows for some commands to reset the battery timers, as
well as query the status of the batteries. In our case, we had messages issued
against 2 sets of batteries, and it was helpful to find out whether the
remaining batteries were going to fail in a week or in a year.
