Is anybody running 46C in 7xx series?

Hi Judith,

For what it's worth (FWIW) I believe that the fastest 7xx series ever
available was the 12-way 740, 4550 CPW. I don't know the specs on your
S40 2261 and app servers, but I should think that this 740 model would
support quite a large DB in a 3-tier environment. Of course you can't buy
a new 7xx, either.

Andy

Subject: Is anybody running 46C in 7xx
series?

Hi,

We are going to upgrade our SAP system from 31H to 46C this year. We
have 1 DB server and 3 app servers as follows:

DB instance S40 2261,
1 app server SB1 2313, and
2 app servers SB1 2311.

More than 2 years ago we ran Insight tool and IBM recommended a 740
2070 system and to keep our app servers. We had a conference call
today with IBM and the sizing team said that the 740 system is not an
option for us anymore. Our number of users has decreased as well as
our total number of dialog steps in the last 2 years, hence, we are
kind of concerned with this.

We have around 400 concurrent users and our DB size is 320 GB.

I would like to know if some of you have SAP 46C Database instance
running in 7xx series. If that is the case:
How many concurrent users do you have?
What is your PRD database size?
How is the performance running 46c in a 7xx like?

We don't have budget to buy new As/400 equipment and we really want
to upgrade to 46C. If we buy any 8xx series we don't have the option
to keep our SB1s due to fact the migration tower is not an option for
us. (SB1s can not be upgraded anymore) for that reason, we would
like to know if somebody is running 46C in 7xx series.

Thanks,

Judith
