Is anybody running 46C in 7xx series?

Hi Volker,

The S40-2261 has a CPW of 2340 and the 740-2070 CPW is
4550. It is almost the double.
I think there was a typing error and you mean 840
instead of 740 in the last part of your note.
The CPW of 840 is 9000. We didn’t think the 840 was a
good choice because we can not use the app servers
with the 840, and even though we couldn’t find the
CPWs for the SB1s; they are supposed to have the same
power that the S40.

However, based on the Iseries responses, I now think
than the 840-12 way 2 tier would be another good
option to look at.

Thank you very much for your response!!

We were kind of discouraged after our conference call.
IBM’s recommendation was to buy 1 825-6 way for the DB
server and 2 825-6 way app servers. I asked them if
we can make it with the 870-8 way that has 11500 CPW
and then only 2 tier, that is a cheaper option that
the 3 825, and they said that it was not enough power
for us. It just seems unbelievable!
Anyway, for our production box, we will still have to
go to the used market for budget reasons.

One more question. Do you think the new 810 1way would
be an option for our DEV & TST box?

Thanks again,

Judith
