Background Jobs

Hi again,

Volker is right. If you run on Win 9x/NT/2000, you might install the CA
V5R1M0, then it helps a lot to do the folder in iSeries as 'normal NT
shared' folder in your PC.

Hi,

forunately you only need CA at one PC for administering the file-share and
then you could use "normal NT-Fileshares" instead of the old technique to
use QDLS with Client Access. QDLS is limited to the old DOS 8+3 Syntax.
With this new (? (since V4R2)) feature NetServer/400 you can create
file-shares at every point in the IFS as you are used to from NT and you
can say if you like a conversion or even not.

Regards

Volker

Hi Christine,

Downloading into PC can't be done in background job, since it needs a
presentation server (the SAPGUI active in PC and connected in dialog). I
suggest you to download the file into the application server as a DATASET,
for example into \\<hostname>\QDLS\<folder>, then you can map it to get the
file, but Client Access needs to be installed in your PC to avoid codepage
problem.

Good luck !

Hi Gang,

Our Payroll department needs to run several background jobs once a month
that pulls and reports on data dealing with Employee 401K Contributions.
At
the end of the program, it should take this file and save it off to either
a
local file on a PC or to a mapped network drive. When we run this program
in dialog it works successfully, but when we run it in background it fails
at the step of saving the data to a local file. Does anyone know if there
is anything that we can do to be able to run this program successfully in
the background?

Thanks,
Christine
