Application Server Feed Back

Hi Ed,

We are currently running 31i on a LPAR of an 840. The LPAR has 20 CPU's and
40Gb RAM with 1.3Tb of disk. We have a database server and an application
server running on this machine. Since we implemented the application server
we have seen about a 10% rise in the overall utilisation of the CPU (it
never gets above more than 50% at peak times), but no increase in temporary
storage. This is done with about 1200-1400 concurrent users at peak times.

We're actually running on our backup box at the minute, and this is a
similar LPAR with 14 CPU's instead of 20, and both instances are running
slightly slower (perhaps an extra 0.2 second difference), but again the
overhead and temporary storage are no more than we have seen on the main
box.

Cheers,

Dan

Hi Group,

Currently we are running on 840 and EBCDIC Kernel. We are planning to use
one of our iSeries (9406 - 720) as our Application Server. If you are
using any ISeries as your Application Server, would you able to share your
experiences with us.

Christine Kramlich and Yannies Smarianakis,

I read your message back in August 2002 about this issue. would you tell me
more about your company hardware configuration or any good advice?

Thanks in advance for any input!
