Application Server Feed Back
Hi Ed,for production we are running a 3.1I system in a 3-tier environment, serving
about 1100 users.
One 740 12-ways with 10 GB main storage is our DB-Server.
Two 740s 12-ways with 8 GB main storage each are Appl-Servers.
All servers are running under V5R1M0. The boxes are connected with
OptiConnect.
So far we had pretty good performance with this configuration. But now it
comes out that the upper limit especially of the DB server is about to be
reached, while the application servers are still green. So we consider a
change to a 2-tier configuration with one 870 16-ways, but this is just an
idea at the moment.

Hi Group,
Currently we are running on 840 and EBCDIC Kernel. We are planning to use
one of our iSeries (9406 - 720) as our Application Server. If you are
using any ISeries as your Application Server, would you able to share your
experiences with us.
Christine Kramlich and Yannies Smarianakis,
I read your message back in August 2002 about this issue. would you tell me
more about your company hardware configuration or any good advice?
