Passed this on to our security expert - here's his responseIt looks like he would have to create a custom authorization object
combining M_MATE_MAR (auth. to Material Types) and M_MATE_STA (auth. to
Maintenance Statuses). Then (hopefully) find a user exit to put it in.

Sorry to be off-topic but I wondered if anyone could help me with this.
I am trying to setup the security on the material master so that a given
user would have update access on 2 different material types.
The difficulty is: For material type 1 all views should be updateable,
but for material type 2 only the basic data should be modifiable.
I know it is possible in the authorization profile to restrain the
access on
the views but can it be done in association with the material type?
Has anybody ever successfully configured something similar?
