optimized kernel for 46D - what is it?

Hi,

We are looking at some upgrade scenario's of our current hardware and when
looking at the iseries hardware and the number of SAPS they are supposed to
give we often see the term optimized kernel, meaning that the number of SAPS
is only produced if run with the optimized kernel. If the hardware is
running without optimized kernel it produces 25% less SAPS (according to IBM
figures)

Now I am not quite sure what the optimized kernel is and if we are are
already running it, and if not where can this kernel be had or how can we
optimize it.
At the moment we are running kernel 46D ebcdic (R/3) patchlevel 1098.

Does anyone know?
