Theoretical maximum instances on one iSeri es?
My DEV/TEST/High availability machine has 10 active 4.6C SR2 instancescurrently with 4 inactive ones for our HA solution. We're running 48GB of
RAM on this box with tons of disk (model 825). All V5R2. Our Productive
machine is an 870 (10 CPU, 20GB RAM, 3-tier) with 4 instances of 4.6C.
What I'm considering is bringing a generic WAS and a CRM landscape
(possibly also an APO in the future) into the iSeries. That would add 2-3
instances on the prod machine and possibly 4-6 more on the dev/test box.
Obviously some upgrades would be prudent, but I don't think it's outside
the realm of possibility.

I am also not close to 25 but we have at the moment on a 730 - 4cpu - with
7GB mainstg the following:
2 - 4.6B, 2 - 3.1I, 1 - BW 2.1C and 1 BW 3.1C.
About 2 years ago we on the same box had 4 - 3.1H and 2 - 4.6B systemms at
that time with just 2 CPU¡Çs and 3 GB main stg

Hi Andy,
Not even close to 25, but we have had at least 6 instances on our
dev/tst box. At one point we were running 2-4.6B, 2-4.6C and 2-6.20
(BW 3.0B). They are on an 830 w/20 gig memory w/V5R1.
