Hi Thomas,
We only have about 12 users active at any time. Most of the DIA WPs are
used
for processing interface data from R/3 and BW via CIF. Each app server is
configured with 8 DIA and 7 BGD WPs.

Hi Paul,
We have been live with APO on iSeries now for about 2 months. We have used
IXA app servers running Windows 2000 Advanced Server. The iSeries has no
performance issues - most of the work is out on the app servers. Our
biggest
performance issue was the app servers, we now have three dual CPU x360 IXA
servers with 4Gb memory each. The iSeries is a LPAR on a model 830 with 4
CPUs and 8Gb memory.
Livecache is on a pSeries 630. I do not know if livecache is supported on
Linux yet, but if it is, I still would not go with a Linux partition on
iSeries. Memory requirements for livecache are very large (ours is 24Gb)
and
such memory is expensive on iSeries. Better looking at Unix or 64-bit
Intel.
One gotcha we found. One of our users turned on detailed logging for CIF.
Our database was around 40Gb when this was done, detailed CIF logging
resulted in over 100Gb of journal receivers a day!! Use with care.

One of my Dutch customers is considering very seriously to install APO the
right way, on an iSeries for the DB, and with w2k apps servers.
But he would like to get in touch with anyone of you who has done it
allready. He likes to be confirmed about his choices by another (satisfied)
iSeries APO customer.
His main concerns are:
Does it perform? (I know, this depends on a million other things than
only the hardware, but he wants to see a good performing iSeries APO
customer)
How busy is the DB server?
Where is the livecache (he is considering putting on a linux partition on
an iSeries; is this supported / done already?)
Is it stable?
Anyone who cares to help this customer by sharing your APO on iSeries
experiences is kindly asked to react by mail, by telephone or by letting
him visit your installation.
He allready has 4 R/3 and 2 BW installations on 2 iSeries, his next step is
getting APO live.
