Temporary Storage and/or Private Memory problem

The only way we could survive (since SAP stays up for as many months as
possible) when we had app servers was to implement the instance profile
parm below

Parm is in seconds - so this is equal to 24 hrs - Every 24 hrs each of
our Work Processes restart
rdisp/wp_auto_restart 86400

We also talk to our users about data selection criteria when we see PRIV
mode - ask them to select 1 month at a time and then signoff. We're all
a team and they can do their part to help.

Custom development - run SQL traces ST05 against the transaction and see
if there is any more creative and/or efficiencies which can be done.

Subject: Temporary Storage and/or Private Memory problem

HI,
We appear to have a problem with the Temporary Storage and/or Private
Memory on our Application Servers (Three SB1's) 25 GB ea.
The system increased to above 90%.
With the command DSPTMPSTG we notice a work process holding about
1.5 GB. Testing and trying to understand the problem we noticed Tcode
MB51 and several home grown reports that will go into private memory
and cause the system to increase quickly. It seems to be a
combination of user holding the private memory until signoff and the
work process holding temp storage until restarted.
We have recently stopped our weekly IPL for business requirements.

Is restarting R3 a weekly requirement?

We running R/3 45B Support Pack 56 on V5R1 with the latest PTF's.
We have about 600 concurrent users. Parameter abap/heaplimit is set to
40894464.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Manny
