Performance on 46C

Hi, Doreen.

The box we moved from (730) was a 2-way with a CPW of 1050. The CPW
of the S30 8-way (new box) is 1794. Both boxes are/were running
V5R2. The 730 had 8 GB memory and the S30 now has 12 GB. The S30 has
105 disks in the system ASP, consisting of 4, 8 and 16 GB drives. I
know that IBM doesn't recommend combining more than 2 different disk
sizes, but we didn't have the performance issue prior to the upgrade
to 4.6C.

My concern is that the CPU hardly goes above the 20% mark, which
indicates that the box is still "idling". I can't understand why the
SAP responses are so bad if the CPU isn't that busy.

I have checked the EarlyWatch reports that have been generated by
the data that my DEV system has sent. The reports definitely warn of
performance issues, but don't give me any clue as to what to look
for, other than updating my kernel patch level (which was current at
the time of the upgrade to 4.6C).

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Des
