SAP Solution Manager

Hi Bill,

I think, you should decide where setting up the SolMan first. Then it
will be possible to convince/persuade the SAP contractz department,
to change your contract that way, that you are able to install it on
the platform of your choice.
As you may want to onserve the PRD system, it is definetely a useful
idea to run it in another LPAR.
As P3 is used for CUA and therefore will be "mostly up", it looks
like a useful option.
When running on Windows 2000, you would have to choose the for you
most useful database, as you may have to support this as well. That
is mostly the reason, to stick with the complete landscape on one
platform.
On the other hand, the SolMan will run fine wihtout a lot of effort
as soon as it is setup properly and won't consume a noticeable CPU
and so on.
It will run fine on both platforms you are asking for. We are having
a mixture of customers with both approaches you are asking for and I
don't know of any that is really not satisfied with its platform
decesion for the SolMan.

So, you should think, what you like most and if Win2000 what DB you
like most - then you should tell this to SAP and ensure, that you
will receive the correct CDs - which might be a few longer phone
calls ...

Regards

Volker
