Upgrading from V5R1 to V5R2

We replaced a S40 with a 825 and upgraded from V4R5 to V5R2.
Be sure that the kernel you are running supports V5R2.
We started with a option 21 backup of the S40.
Renamed the S40 and changed its ip address.
Installed the 825 and set its ip address and name like the old S40.
Install V5R2 on the 825 and restored all of the user libraries from the S40.
Restored the ifs from the S40 omitting some directories.
Sorry, I did not keep good notes, but it was not difficult to figure
our which directories to omit. We did not want to overlay
V5R2 IBM directories with V4R5 stuff.
IBM has documentation on how to restore from a down level
system to a newer release.

Anyway, it is possible to swap out the hardware and do a OS400
version upgrade at the same time. Be sure to have the latest
CUM and PTFs called for by II13337 available. You will have
to install a temporary liscense for the new hardware.

By the way, you will like the 825. Runs very well.
